Annual Marketing Calendar

How to Use the Calendar

Plan a Month or Two in Advance

Important: Many of these days are here more for you to discuss them than market on them.

For instance, February 11th is National "Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk Day." That is a great trigger to talk about releasing the past and keeping things in perspective.

National Missing Persons Day, February 3rd. What better way to introduce anti-abduction and safety lessons.

Some promotions take more time and work than others. Each month, check at least the next two months so you can start to plan and budget.

Week Two - SendOutCard.com gift to students anniversary. Give them one month free for every year they’ve been with you.

Make sure you and your staff lead by example.

11th-National "Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk Day." That is a great trigger to talk about releasing the past and keeping things in perspective.

14th-Valentines Day. Clearly this is a bring a friend day. You may want to offer a side-by-side class for students and their friend.

March

This is a busy month for networking and public speaking because there are so many health related opportunities.

March Focus: Education

Offer: Standard free week

Tools: You approaching the media and local businesses like your business depends on it. Read: How to Become Your Own Reporter http://www.empowerboxingmembers.com/blog/the-new-media/

American Red Cross Month

Invite the local Red Cross to do a blood drive in your school. They provide all the equipment, the staffing, and they'll even do some advertising for you! It's a true win-win and should be good for media coverage as well.

You get increased traffic into your health and fitness center while at the same time you're also providing a much needed service for the Red Cross.

You could also host a fund-raiser for the Red Cross this month.

National Nutrition Month

A great fit for Empower Boxing™ clubs. Offer to visit your local school(s) and be a guest speaker in their gym class, physical education class, or classes related to nutrition.

Be sure to send a press release to the media and also prepare a letter or note for the students to take home to their parents. Make it an educational paper, not a promotional flyer but it’s still okay to include your contact info.

American Diabetes Alert Day (4th Tuesday)

Regular exercise helps prevent diabetes. Fit women are 70 % less likely to develop diabetes than unfit women.

Offer to write an article of how fitness helps fight diabetes for your local paper. Not only is it publicity for your school, it positions you as a fitness expert.

Contact a local diabetes physician and get some supporting quotes from him or her to include in the story.

Sleep Awareness Week (last Monday week)

Research shows that exercise helps people sleep better at night. Promote it with signs in your window and in the school.

Doctor's Day (last Tuesday)

Doctors should be a regular target of your complementary business monthly task because they can refer clients to you for weight loss, stress relief and all kinds of other issues including diabetes and sleep aid.

Kick Butts Day (last day of the month)

Kick Butts Day is to help men, women and teens stop smoking. There's plenty of research proving that the odds of successfully quitting smoking are increased when combined with an exercise program.

Consider offering free classes throughout March for anyone and everyone who is trying to quit smoking?

Great for PR, especially if you have a success story or two.

April

Alcohol Awareness Month and Alcohol Free Weekend (1st weekend, varies by locale)

People who drink frequently have increased potential for weight gain because they add empty calories to their diet.

Alcohol is higher in calories than many other nutrients: 1 gram of alcohol = 7 calories, 1 gram of protein = 4 calories, 1 gram of fat = 9 calories, 1 gram of carbohydrate = 3.75 calories (Source: Washington State University)

Offer a free class during Alcohol Free Weekend.

Walk America / March of Dimes (4th weekend)

  • Participate, as a school, in the Walk America event with everyone in Empower Kickboxing™ apparel.
  • You can step it up by purchasing special t-shirts for the walk - put your Empower Kickboxing™ logo in a prominent place on the shirt and give one free to every member who takes part in the event.

Make sure you have Logo License for this.

Cancer Control Month

Consider hosting a fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society.

National Public Health Week

Promote free training during this week. It’s just a new angle for the same offer of a free week.
