We’re focusing on the self-defense applications of the knifehand and hammerfist.
Knifehand/Ridgehand Application Overview. (sorry some of the video is blocked, but you get what I’m teaching. We’ve included sub-titles to help)
Have the students execute these variations in the mirror, on a pad, and then one each other slowly without impact.
Skip-Sidekick (10 each side from movement with Penetrate, Kick, Clear, Change Alignment.
Back Kick (10 each side)
Defensive Combo 1: 2 Block 1 2 3 Front Kick (In mirror and with partner)
Defensive Combo 1: 2 Block 1 2 3 Front Kick (In mirror and with partner)
DRILLS
Each version of round kick gets 10 reps on each leg.
1. Stationary-Pad holder only moves the pad up when the kick is good. Either way, he doesn’t move.
2. Kicker and pad holder move. When the pad holder stops, the kicker fires his kick.
COOL DOWN AND/OR GAME
Slow Motion Side Kick (10 seconds out and 10 seconds back. 10 each side.)
